Editorial Policy

Finacefree exists to explain investing in plain English for people who are just getting started. Because money decisions matter, we hold our content to a clear set of standards. This page explains how our articles are created, reviewed, and kept up to date.

Who writes our content

Finacefree was founded by Peter, who writes and edits the guides on this site. Our goal is to explain concepts the way we wish they had been explained to us: without jargon, without hype, and without assuming you already know the basics.

How we create articles

Every guide starts with a question real beginners ask, such as how much money you need to start investing or how a 401(k) match works. We research each topic using primary and authoritative sources, including IRS.gov, the SEC’s Investor.gov, FINRA, and official fund and brokerage documentation. We then write the guide, add worked examples so you can see how the numbers play out, and link to related guides that help you go deeper.

Accuracy and updates

Tax rules, contribution limits, and income thresholds change over time. Rather than repeat figures that may go out of date, we explain how the rules work and point you to the official source for current numbers. We review articles periodically and update them when rules or products change. Each article shows when it was last updated.

Independence

Finacefree is supported by advertising and, in some cases, affiliate partnerships. Advertisers and partners never decide which topics we cover or what we say about them. See our Advertiser Disclosure for details.

Not personalized advice

Our guides are educational. Finacefree is not a registered investment advisor, broker, or tax professional, and nothing on this site is personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Consider speaking with a licensed professional about your specific situation.

Corrections and feedback
